How to win TriPeaks: long runs and smart draws
4 min read ·
TriPeaks is a fast solitaire: three overlapping peaks of cards, a waste pile, and one rule. Play any uncovered card one rank higher or lower than the waste card, and chain as many as you can before you draw again.
Every deal on Puzzimo is checked by a solver, so there's always a way to clear all three peaks. The skill is in choosing which card to play when two fit.
The rules
- Three peaks hold 28 cards; only cards with nothing on top of them are face up.
- Play any uncovered card one rank higher or lower than the waste card. Suits don't matter.
- King and Ace connect: you can play an Ace on a King and a King on an Ace.
- A card turns face up once both cards covering it are gone.
- When nothing fits, draw from the stock onto the waste.
Uncover cards first
Face-down cards are the unknowns of TriPeaks. When you have a choice, play the card that will turn another card over, usually one that's the last cover on a face-down card. More face-up cards mean more options for the next run.
Plan the run
When two cards fit, look one or two steps ahead. If the waste is 7 and you can play a 6 or an 8, choose the one that leads to more plays afterwards. A run can go up and down freely: 7, 8, 7, 6, 5 is fine.
Use the stock wisely
The stock is your only way to restart a run, and it's limited. Don't draw while a play is still available unless that play would break a better run later, and remember the King–Ace wrap: a King on the waste can still continue with an Ace, and the other way round.
Practise
Tap a card to play it, or tap the stock to draw. Undo draws on your shared undo balance (three free a day). Every deal can be won, results are ranked by time, and on a phone the Landscape button gives bigger cards.
Frequently asked questions
Do King and Ace connect in TriPeaks?
Yes. In TriPeaks you can play an Ace on a King and a King on an Ace, so runs can wrap around.
Which card should I play when two fit?
Prefer the one that turns over a face-down card, then the one that leads to the longer run. Looking one card ahead usually makes the choice clear.
Can every TriPeaks deal be won?
On Puzzimo, yes. Each deal is checked by a solver before you play, so all three peaks can always be cleared.
