Spider Solitaire
Build eight full suits from King down to Ace.
About Spider Solitaire
Spider is the two-deck solitaire that made Windows famous. With one suit it's a relaxing puzzle; with four suits it's one of the hardest patience games there is. Every 1- and 2-suit deal here is checked by a solver, so it can be won.
How to play
Build runs from King down to Ace in the ten columns. Any card can go on a card one rank higher, but only a run of one suit can be moved as a group. A complete King-to-Ace run of one suit is removed; clear all eight to win. Deal a new row from the stock when you're stuck — every column must have a card first.
Tips and strategies
- Turn over face-down cards before building long runs.
- An empty column is your most valuable resource — use it to reorganise, not as a parking spot.
- Prefer moves that keep runs in one suit; mixed runs can't be moved as a group.
Spider Solitaire strategy guide
Build in suit whenever you can. A mixed run can't be moved as one group, so placing a card on one of its own suit keeps your options open, even when another move looks faster.
Empty columns are the most valuable thing on the table. Use them to sort runs into single suits, and fill them again before you deal — the stock can only be dealt when no column is empty.
Turn over face-down cards early and attack the columns with the fewest hidden cards first: emptying one gives you room. In four-suit games, expect to use undo; trying a line and backing out is part of the strategy.
Frequently asked questions
How many suits should I play?
One suit is the gentlest: every run can be moved together. Two suits mix spades and hearts, and four suits is the classic hard game, where runs break up often.
Is every Spider Solitaire deal winnable?
One- and two-suit deals are proven winnable by a solver before you play. Four-suit deals are random, so a few cannot be solved; that is part of the four-suit challenge.
When can I deal from the stock?
Whenever every column has at least one card. A deal adds one card to each of the ten columns, so finish the moves you can make first.
Can I play Spider Solitaire on my phone?
Yes, right in your phone's browser, with no app to install. Tap Landscape to turn the table sideways with bigger cards, or Full screen to hide the browser bars.
Is Spider Solitaire free to play?
Yes. Every game on Puzzimo is completely free and runs in your browser on desktop, tablet and phone — no download or installation.
Do I need an account?
No. You can play instantly as a guest and still appear on the leaderboards. Sign in with Google, Discord or LINE to keep your scores on every device.
