About Mini Sudoku
Mini Sudoku is the classic number puzzle on a smaller board. A 4×4 grid takes under a minute; a 6×6 grid with 2×3 boxes is a satisfying five-minute break. It's also the easiest way to learn sudoku logic before moving up to 9×9.
How to play
Fill the grid so every row, column and box contains each number once: 1–4 on the 4×4 board, 1–6 on the 6×6 board. Use notes to track candidates.
Tips and strategies
- Look for rows, columns or boxes with only one empty cell — they fill themselves.
- In 6×6, remember the boxes are 2 rows by 3 columns.
- Speed comes from scanning: check each number in turn across the whole board.
Mini Sudoku strategy guide
Scan each row, column and box for the one digit it is missing. On a 4×4 grid most cells fall to this alone: when three of the four digits already appear in a cell's row, column or box, the fourth is the answer.
On 6×6, remember that the boxes are two rows tall and three columns wide. A digit placed in a box rules out its row and column in the neighbouring boxes, which often leaves a single spot for it.
When nothing is obvious, turn on Notes and pencil in the candidates of the most crowded box. Pairs show up quickly in such a small grid, and a pair in a row removes those two digits from the rest of that row.
Frequently asked questions
What sizes does Mini Sudoku come in?
Two: 4×4, with 2×2 boxes and the digits 1–4, and 6×6, with 2×3 boxes and the digits 1–6. The 6×6 grid is the daily challenge.
Is Mini Sudoku good for beginners and kids?
Yes. The rules are exactly those of classic Sudoku, but a 4×4 grid takes a minute or two, so it is a gentle way to learn scanning and elimination before moving on to 9×9.
Does every Mini Sudoku have a unique solution?
Yes. Clues are removed one at a time only while the solution stays unique; a 4×4 grid keeps about 6 clues and a 6×6 grid about 14.
Is Mini Sudoku free to play?
Yes. Every game on Puzzimo is completely free and runs in your browser on desktop, tablet and phone — no download or installation.
Do I need an account?
No. You can play instantly as a guest and still appear on the leaderboards. Sign in with Google, Discord or LINE to keep your scores on every device.
