About Tents
Tents — also called Tents and Trees — is a relaxing logic puzzle with a campsite theme. The row and column counts plus the no-touching rule leave exactly one way to pitch every tent, so you can solve each puzzle by logic alone.
How to play
Place tents so that every tree has exactly one tent directly next to it (above, below, left or right) and every tent belongs to one tree. Tents never touch each other, not even diagonally. The numbers outside the grid say how many tents are in each row and column.
Tips and strategies
- Rows or columns with a 0 get no tents — mark them as grass first.
- A tree with only one free neighbour must have its tent there.
- Every tent blocks the eight cells around it; mark them as grass.
Tents strategy guide
Start with the zeros and the cells far from trees. Every cell in a row or column marked 0, and every cell with no tree directly beside it, is grass — marking them shrinks the board fast.
A tree with only one free neighbour gets its tent there. Then mark all eight cells around that tent as grass, because tents may not touch.
Compare each number with the space left. A row that needs three tents and has exactly three possible cells, none of them touching, takes all three; and two touching cells can share at most one tent.
