About Star Battle
Star Battle is the bigger sibling of Queens: every row, column and region needs exactly two stars, and no two stars may be neighbours. With two stars per line the deductions get deeper — counting how many stars a group of regions must take is the key. Every puzzle has exactly one solution.
How to play
Place two stars in each row, each column and each outlined region. Stars may not touch each other, not even diagonally. Tap a cell to mark it ✕ (tap again to clear) and double-tap to place a star; drag to mark or clear many cells at once.
Tips and strategies
- Count: if some regions fit inside a few rows, those rows' stars must all go into those regions.
- A region shaped like a 2×2 block can hold only one star — so it needs cells outside it too.
- Mark every neighbour of a placed star with ✕ straight away.
Star Battle strategy guide
Count stars in groups of lines. Two rows hold exactly four stars, so if two regions lie entirely within those two rows, they use up all four and every other cell of the two rows can be crossed out.
A 2×2 block can hold at most one star. Split small regions into 2×2 blocks: a region that fits into two such blocks has one star in each, and a region that is a straight line of three cells has its stars at both ends.
Cross out generously. All eight neighbours of a star are empty, and once a row, column or region has its two stars the rest of it is empty too — the crosses are what reveal the next forced star.
