About Slitherlink

Slitherlink — also known as Loop the Loop or Fences — is a Japanese logic puzzle where you draw one continuous loop around numbered cells. The rules take seconds to learn, and every puzzle here has exactly one solution.

How to play

Draw a single closed loop along the dotted grid lines. Each number tells how many of that cell's four sides the loop uses. The loop never crosses itself or branches. Tap a line to draw it (tap again for an ✕, a third time to clear), or drag through the dots.

Tips and strategies

  • A 0 means none of its four sides are used — cross them all out.
  • Two 3s side by side share a line between them, and their outer sides are lines too.
  • Every dot has either no lines or exactly two: a dot with one line must continue.

Slitherlink strategy guide

Cross out all four sides of every 0 first. Then look at 3s: two 3s side by side always have a line on the side they share and on their two outer sides.

Use the dots. Every dot has either no lines or exactly two, so a dot with two lines gets crosses on its other sides, and a dot with one line and only one free side must continue there.

Check the corners of the grid. A 3 in a corner has both of its outer sides drawn, and a 1 in a corner has both outer sides crossed out.

Frequently asked questions

How do I play Slitherlink?

Draw one closed loop along the dotted grid lines. A number in a cell says how many of its four sides the loop uses; the loop never crosses itself or branches.

Which sizes can I play?

5×5, 7×7 and 10×10. The daily challenge is 5×5. Clues run from 0 to 3, and many cells have none.

Does every Slitherlink have a unique loop?

Yes. Clues are hidden only while a solver still finds exactly one loop.

Is Slitherlink free to play?

Yes. Every game on Puzzimo is completely free and runs in your browser on desktop, tablet and phone — no download or installation.

Do I need an account?

No. You can play instantly as a guest and still appear on the leaderboards. Sign in with Google, Discord or LINE to keep your scores on every device.

How does the daily Slitherlink challenge work?

Every day at 00:00 UTC everyone gets the same new puzzle. Only your first finish of the day counts on the leaderboard.

How are leaderboard results verified?

Our servers replay every move of your game and measure the time themselves, so leaderboard results can't be faked.
