Queens
One queen in every row, column and colour — none touching.
About Queens
Queens is a quick logic puzzle that became a daily habit for millions. Coloured regions split the board; each needs exactly one queen, as does every row and column, and no two queens may be neighbours. Every puzzle here has exactly one solution you can reach by pure logic.
How to play
Place one queen in each row, each column and each coloured region. Queens may not touch each other, not even diagonally. Tap a cell to mark it 🐾 (tap again to clear) and double-tap to place a queen; drag to mark or clear many cells at once.
Tips and strategies
- Start with the smallest regions: few cells mean few places for their queen.
- When a region fits entirely in one row or column, cross out the rest of that row or column.
- Every queen rules out its eight neighbours — mark them with ✕ to keep the board readable.
Queens strategy guide
Start with the smallest regions. A one-cell region is a queen straight away, and a region that lies entirely in one row or column claims that line, so every other cell of the line can be crossed out.
Cross out around every queen. Mark its row, its column and the eight cells touching it with ✕ — none of them can hold a queen — and look again: crosses are what make the next region obvious.
Look for groups. If two regions only fit within the same two rows, those rows belong to them, so the other regions' cells in those rows can be crossed out. The same works for columns and for larger groups.
Frequently asked questions
What are the rules of Queens?
Place exactly one queen in every row, every column and every coloured region. Queens may not touch each other, not even diagonally.
Does every Queens puzzle have one solution?
Yes. A solver checks each puzzle before you play, so the solution is unique and you can reach it by logic alone, without guessing.
How big are the boards?
7×7, 8×8 and 9×9, each split into as many coloured regions as it has rows. Bigger boards have more regions and longer chains of deduction.
Is Queens free to play?
Yes. Every game on Puzzimo is completely free and runs in your browser on desktop, tablet and phone — no download or installation.
Do I need an account?
No. You can play instantly as a guest and still appear on the leaderboards. Sign in with Google, Discord or LINE to keep your scores on every device.
How does the daily Queens challenge work?
Every day at 00:00 UTC everyone gets the same new puzzle. Only your first finish of the day counts on the leaderboard.
How are leaderboard results verified?
Our servers replay every move of your game and measure the time themselves, so leaderboard results can't be faked.
