Lights Out
Switch off every light on the board.
About Lights Out
Lights Out is a logic puzzle on a grid of lights. Pressing a light toggles it and its four neighbours on or off, and the goal is to switch every light off. Every puzzle here is generated to be solvable.
How to play
Pressing a light toggles it and its four neighbours. Turn off all the lights to win.
Tips and strategies
- Chase the lights: for each lit cell in a row, press the cell directly below it, working down row by row.
- After chasing, the lights left in the bottom row tell you which top-row cells to press before chasing again.
- The order of presses doesn't matter, and pressing a cell twice cancels out.
Lights Out strategy guide
Order doesn't matter, and pressing a cell twice cancels out — so a solution is just a set of cells, each pressed at most once.
Chase the lights down. Turn off every light in the top row by pressing the cell directly below it, then do the same row by row; at the end only the bottom row can still be lit.
Finish from the top. The pattern left in the bottom row tells you which top-row cells to press; press them, chase down again, and the board clears. Practising on 5×5 teaches you the patterns.
