About Block Sudoku

Block Sudoku mixes a block puzzle with the grid of sudoku: instead of digits, you place shapes, and any full row, column or 3×3 square disappears. It's quick to learn, endlessly replayable, and every point you score is checked on our server.

How to play

Drag the three pieces onto the 9×9 grid. Fill a whole row, column or 3×3 square to clear it and score points; clearing several at once and clearing on consecutive moves score extra. You get three new pieces when all three are placed. The game ends when none of your pieces fits.

Fill a row, column or box to clear it

Tips and strategies

  • Keep the centre open — big pieces need room.
  • Before placing, check that your other two pieces will still fit somewhere.
  • Set up several lines to clear with one piece: combos score much more than single clears.

Block Sudoku strategy guide

Keep the board open. Before placing a piece, check that the other pieces in your tray will still fit somewhere afterwards; most games are lost to one piece that has no room left.

Aim for combos. Lines that complete with the same piece are cleared together for far more points than one at a time, and clearing on consecutive moves keeps the streak bonus growing.

Save space for awkward shapes. Long bars and big squares need open rows and corners, so keep one area clear for them instead of filling every gap with small pieces.

Frequently asked questions

How is Block Sudoku scored?

Each piece scores 1 point per square. Clearing a row, column or 3×3 square scores 18, clearing several at once scores 18 × the number cleared, squared (72 for two, 162 for three), and every clearing move in a row adds a further 9-point streak bonus.

When does the game end?

When none of the pieces left in your tray fits anywhere on the grid. You only get three new pieces after all three are placed, so the order you place them in matters.

Can I rotate the pieces?

No, pieces are placed as they come. In the daily challenge everyone gets the same pieces in the same order, so results are directly comparable.

Is Block Sudoku free to play?

Yes. Every game on Puzzimo is completely free and runs in your browser on desktop, tablet and phone — no download or installation.

Do I need an account?

No. You can play instantly as a guest and still appear on the leaderboards. Sign in with Google, Discord or LINE to keep your scores on every device.

How does the daily Block Sudoku challenge work?

Every day at 00:00 UTC everyone gets the same new puzzle. Only your first finish of the day counts on the leaderboard.

How are leaderboard results verified?

Our servers replay every move of your game and measure the time themselves, so leaderboard results can't be faked.
